Final MGP Report

Race Day Blues!

Race Day finally arrived!  Delayed for 30 mins. Finally got under way in Bright but very windy conditions.  I had Dave Clarke and Neil ‘wood in front, went around the outside of “young Woody” at Braddan and dived up the inside of Dave on the left at Snugborough Close.

I had a good lap 1, then into the pits.  A very slick pit stop then away for lap 2.

Push Tim!!

I had Very good lap 3.  Although I started moving around at the rear end on lap 4, Salt spat me out of the seat at Quarter Bridge and May Hill.  I came into  Water Works far to fast but got away with it , much the same into  Tower , a right and left but for got to change down a gear in the left hander before the Gooseneck!!.  That meant I went in far too fast overshooting the grass bank.  “Salt” fell down the bank and spat me off.  The engine was still running as I picked “Salt” up.  I was ready to get going again but the Travelling Marshal (TM) stopped me until he got the go ahead from Race ‘HQ’.  This lost me 1min 31secs. I rode the rest of the race without a left foot peg by resting my foot on the exhaust.  I finally crossed the line in 43rd place, having dropped from 31st.

I was just out of a replica place.  Although, I was happy to finish, but for a silly mistake it would have been a perfect week.  Sorry to all the team and especially to ‘Curly’.

Stay as Mr Whippy for another year.

John.

The girls did the pit board for John at Signpost Corner.  They got a nod and a wave from John.  They got a few nods from some of the other competitors too.  They must get confused about which lap they’re on too.  Bless.
