Blue Nose Racers at the Southern 2010

The Blue Nose Racers would like to introduce their new rider for 2010 race season, Quaker Oates.  A close friend of our reasonably priced TT Star. Pictured here with the now reasonably priced Travelling Marshal, Steven Oates.

Poppy is still the star rider.

Teppi and Tunis will still be the Blue Nose sidecar outfit if they ever get their gear back from Ken at Merlin Sidecars, where it is still being sprayed!

In the morning they all jump into the van and headed off to Castletown.  Quaker said that he would drive to give Poppy a rest.  They got as far as Fairy Bridge and the engine blew up!!

‘Oh dear,’ said Poppy, ‘I better go home and get the Motorhome.’  He flagged down a passing motorcycle and went back to Douglas.  He drove back and picked everyone and everything up then carried on to the Southern 100 campsite.

Quaker suggested that they had a breakfast of bacon and sausage sandwiches.  He likes Sausage sandwiches. Poppy told him to use Bagpuss’ bar-b-que grill.

The smell and sound of sizzling could soon be heard.  Then, all of a sudden there was a bang!  The grill had blown up in the middle of cooking the sausages.  Quaker sat surrounded with smoke and just blinking.  He wasn’t sure what happened. Poppy was trying to sort his bike out for the race.  Hector suggested that Quaker put the kettle on and calm down.  He thought that was a great idea.

It wasn’t long before there was a popping sound, a puff of smoke and a worried looking Quaker informed Curly that her kettle had blown up!!  Curly didn’t look happy.  She was advancing on Quaker with a folk when Teppi rescued him and sent him off to start the generator to run the cooker in the motorhome.

It wasn’t long before Bagpuss was shouting at Poppy for turning off the tyre warmers.  The race was in half an hour and they tyres were cold.  ‘oh no!’ thought Poppy.

Tunis, where is Quaker?’  He asked.

They all looked at each other as there was a loud bang from behind the tent.  They all rushed round to find Quaker cowering beside the trailer.

‘ I only wanted to help’  he stammered.

‘Step away from the trailer’  ordered Doppy.  They sent him to the motorhome to finish off the sausages.

All was quiet until suddenly there was on almighty bang and the motorhome blew apart to reveal Bday trying to get to the sink to get some water to put the fire out!!

The top was blown off the gazebo and it landed on top of Teppi and Tunis.

They dragged themselves out from underneath and demanded to know who was respondible and where were they??

Nellie said that he didn’t want to alarm anyone but Quaker was investigating Bagpuss’ Bike!

Quaker was just about to turn the key when Doppy swung into action and dragged him off it.

Hector said that Quaker was not allowed near any machinery.  He was relegated to opening soft drinks bottles but only still ones and under supervision.

While the other Blue Nose Racers were busy discussing the days racing, Quaker came across a set of keys.  A Key fob on them had Zoe’s name on it.  Poppy just turned around in time to see him wondering off with them.

‘Noooooo Quaker!!’

Poppy wonders where he gets it from?

We wonder?

Poor ‘Salt’, he’s much better now.
